PKO Vegetable Oil Emulsifier
       
   

This powerful hydro-carbon free emulsifier for jute and sisal fibres produces stable and inexpensive emulsions to assist in processing. Neptune has created an emulsifier which, when used with the spinner's own vegetable oil, gives an emulsion with the following benefits.

Will comply with IOCCC requirements

  • Assists lubrication and conditioning
  • Entirely free of mineral oil or other petroleum derived hydrocarbons
  • Permissible in food contact applications (FDA 176, 178)
  • Excellent stability
  • Good wetting properties allowing rapid penetration of the fibre
  • Non toxic. There are no harmful ingredients

  • Hard or soft water can be used
  • Automatic or paddle mixers can be used

PREPARATION OF EMULSIONS

Typical emulsion (1000 litres) as used on Jute

 

Mix approx 5 litres PKO emulsifier with

95 litres of vegetable oil to give

100 litres of oil / emulsifier premix

Mix with 900 litres of water

 

Apply 30% to obtain an oil content of 3%

 

For use on Sisal:

Apply 15% on the first goods machine to obtain an oil content of 1.5%

 

Both the oil / water ratios in the emulsion and the application rate should be varied to establish the best combination for your own oil.

 

MIXING PROCEDURE

 

1. IT IS ESSENTIAL that the Neptune PKO Emulsifier is mixed with the oil first before any water is added.

2. Emulsion stability can be improved by circulating the emulsion round the feed ring and over a pressure relief valve.
