Established in 1864, Arthur J Dickinson Ltd. opened the Neptune Tar and Chemical Works, at Deptford in London. The company manufactured refined tars and pitches which found a ready market in the ship building industry which prospered in Deptford in those days. In 1906 the first rope treatment emulsions were produced and now the company has an international reputation as the leading chemical supplier to the Hard Fibre processing industry. The Neptune section of AJD has concentrated on the development of treatment concentrates for sisal and jute processing and Neptune products are now exported to over 20 fibre spinning countries.
Neptune is a world leader in the development of mineral oil free, vegetable based products to comply with the latest environmental and food sack requirements. Neptune's expertise in the use of lubricants and emulsifiers enables us to formulate bespoke products for use in other industries and Neptune products find their way into mining, glass, engineering and printing applications.
