A special purpose rot proofing concentrate based on Copper 8 Hydroxy Quinolinolate for the preparation of cordage finish to meet the highest specifications. The product is a 30% dispersion of copper 8 in cordage oil together with emulsifying, conditioning and stabilising systems which can be diluted to create batching emulsions to conform with a wide variety of specifications both National and Military.
The resulting emulsions are stable and esay to use giving excellent distribution of the active coupled with trouble-free processing and good fibre control. Emulsions can be made to conform to Federal Specification TT 616 and British Standard BS 2087. These standards are set based on the metallic copper content to be achieved on the fibre. Neptune Copper 8 30% OE has a metallic copper content of 5.4%
Specifications - Metallic copper content of fibre TT 616 MIN 0.13% - MAX .0.4% Metallic copper BS 2087 (HEAVY) MIN 0.12% Metallic copper BS 2087 (NORMAL MIN 0.05% Metallic copper BS 2087 (LIGHT) MIN 0.03% Metallic copper AUSTRALIAN BALER TWINE SPEC MIN 0.035% Metallic copper iN ADDITION EXCELLENT RESULTS ARE BEING ACHIEVED ON BALER TWINE AT: 0.008% Metallic copper
METHOD OF USE Measure out the oil into a suitable vessel, add the Neptune Copper 8 and mix thoroughly. Then add the water steadily with rapid stirring. All mixing is done without heating. The resulting emulsion should be applied at 15-17% on the first goods machine.
EXAMPLES: To treat fibre to conform with TT 616 the following mix could be used: Neptune Copper 8 30%OE 25% Oil 45% Water 30% Batched at 17% this would give a metallic copper content of 0.2% on the fibre.
To make an emulsion to batch baler twine at 0.008% metallic copper Neptune Copper 8 30%OE 1.3% Oil 78.7% Water 20% Batch at 15-17%
